Blog 3 Assignment Description + clarification on blog posts

Hi All,

The due date for Blog Post 3 (Sequence Analysis) has been changed to April 19.  Here's the assignment description:

FILMP/MEDP 160 • SPRING 2018 
BLOG 3 • Relationships Between Shots 

 For this assignment, you will pick a film scene (any genre) and break it down shot by shot. Please don’t give the plot summary. This blog is about editing choices. Describe how each shot relates to the next one by identifying editing strategies. Are the cuts made in accordance with continuity editing protocols or in a “montage” approach? Example: Matched action? 180 rule? Jump cuts? Graphic matches? Eyeline matches? You can identify point-of-view shots? How are the shots organized in terms of their content, composition, color, movement? Find a short piece of media (1 minute or less) you can watch several times on YouTube or Vimeo. If you can, please create a link in your blog to the media, or embed the clip (analyzing a piece of media allows you to reproduce it under the Fair Use aspects of Copyright Law). 

 250 Words Due in Lab #11

And then I wanted to clarify the difference between the Blog Post assignments on your syllabus and the mini-assignments I sometimes assign you.  As indicated on your syllabus, you have 4 250-word blog posts due throughout the semester.  You've done two already and they're worth 2.5% of your final grade.  The mini-assignments I sometimes assign are different because they're related to your projects and your completion of them is tallied into your overall project grade.  Let me know if you have any questions on this.
