Fine-tuning SFX
The only sound effects for this piece were birds, and I really just layered them in with the music and the voice, but I used them selectively. And this time, instead of messing with the pen tool, I just made really long fades at both ends, to blend them in with the voice and the music.
An easy way to do this is to start the fade a little before the subject stops talking, and then adjust as necessary. Sort of the same idea with music...cut it at the end of a beat or transition and then start the fade out a little before that.
I started with -24db for the SFX but then went down to about -35db.
Here are screenshots of the SFX layered in and the transitions. (Add a transition with Command Shift D). I put the same music at the end of the piece. The piece is actually a little longer, but I thought 4 minutes was enough for you to listen to and get the idea....
